OVERVIEW
At the end of the course, Learners will be able to Identify key issues in problem situations to clearly articulate the problems at hand and propose contingency plans to resolve issues. This course is also a pre-requisite module for entry into the Full Qualification Course Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) under the Soft Skills Group.
The target audience of this competency unit may include:
- Safety Coordinator, Safety Supervisors, Safety Champions , WSH Appointment Holders
- Learners will be able to understand and Identify: (Knowledge)
• Sources from which symptoms of potential problems may be identified
• Possible sources of problem
• Ways to identify impact of a problem on one’s job responsibilities and other parties involved
• Procedure for evaluating selected ideas for problem-solving
• Factors to consider in selecting suitable modes of communication
• Methods to determine the strengths and limitations or constraints of each selected idea
• Areas of impact from implementation of an action plan
• Types of corrective actions
• Reflective mechanisms for the entire problem-solving process
2. Learners will be able to demonstrate and carry out how to: (Abilities)
• Identify symptoms that could lead to potential problem at the workplace
• Articulate problems in a clear and concise manner
• Provide recommendations to resolve the issues at hand
• Apply logical deduction to anticipate and detect problems at the workplace
• Analyse relevant information surrounding the perceived problems
• Identify the exact problem using elimination process, objective reasoning or process questioning
• Analyse the root causes of the problems at the workplace using appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques
• Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions and implementation plans by analysing feedback gathered from relevant sources
Learners will be provided with a physical copy of Learner’s Guide on the first day of class.
On completion of this unit, the learner will have the knowledge and skills to identify key issues in problem situation to clearly articulate the problems at hand and propose contingency plans to resolve issues
The learners must declare their working experience and academic qualifications that validates their basic knowledge.
Knowledge and Skills
• Minimum 3 GCE ‘O’ Levels Passes including English or WPL Level 5 (Average of Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing Scores)
Attitude
• Positive Learning Attitude
• Enthusiastic Learner
Experience
• Minimum of 1 year of working experience.
• Minimum 18 years old
All application will be reviewed and vetted by the course administrator to ensure suitability and authenticity of the documents. If any learner is deemed not suitable, he/she will not be admitted to the course.

- From 1st Jan 2022, SkillsFuture course funding has been revised to a baseline of up to 50% of the Course fee for certifiable courses approved by SSG.
- Enterprises and individuals who qualify for SSG’s enhanced subsidy schemes (SkillsFuture Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy and Enhanced
Training Support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)) will receive an enhanced subsidy of up to 20% – points above the baseline course fee subsidies. - For Singaporeans aged 25 and above, you can choose to tap on your SkillsFuture Credit to offset out-of-pocket expenses for this training
