OVERVIEW
This “Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Process Plant course” is previously known as Oil and Petrochemical Safety Orientation Course (OPSOC). On completion of this unit, learners will have the skills and knowledge in applying workplace safety and health practices to ensure the safety of oneself and others at work in the Oil and Petrochemical industry.
This course is mandatory to all personnel who are working in the Oil and Petrochemical plants in Singapore.
The job role/occupations that this unit would be relevant to may include the following parties related to/in the process industry:
Workers, foreman, supervisors, technicians, engineers, managers
- Identify the roles and responsibilities under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.
- Identify and prevent fire and explosion hazards at the workplace.
- Comply with safe work practices and control measures for material handling.
- Comply with safe work practices and control measures for mechanical and electrical works.
- Comply with safe work practices and control measures when working on specialized operations.
- Comply with safe work practices and control measures when working at heights.
- Comply with safe work practices and control measures when working in a confined space.
On completion of this unit, learners will have the skills and knowledge in applying workplace safety and health practices to ensure the safety of oneself and others at work in the Oil and Petrochemical Industry
Learners must be able to apply numbers, listen, read, speak & write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS-Level-2)

- From 1st Jan 2022, SkillsFuture course funding has been revised to a baseline of up to 50% of the Course fee for certifiable courses approved by SSG.
- Enterprises and individuals who qualify for SSG’s enhanced subsidy schemes (SkillsFuture Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy and Enhanced
Training Support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)) will receive an enhanced subsidy of up to 20% – points above the baseline course fee subsidies. - For Singaporeans aged 25 and above, you can choose to tap on your SkillsFuture Credit to offset out-of-pocket expenses for this training
